Star, Bright
by Mark Clifton
Pete Holmes knows that Star, his three-year-old girl, is bright, and he worries that
being so intelligent will make life difficult for her (as it has for himself); and then
when an equally bright boy moves in next door and Pete observes them playing together and
dropping an impossibly ancient Egyptian coin, he’s not sure whether that makes the
situation better or worse.
And those were the children who were too little to cross the street!
