Conrad Stargard, 20th century Polish engineer, stumbles through a time portal that was
accidentally left open by those meddlers in the Historical Corps, and finds himself in 13th
century Poland, whereupon he does any Connecticut Yankee proud.
One night when we were
playing duplicate bridge, Bryan Campbell told me that this was the favorite time-travel
series of a friend of his, which goes to show that just because my rating of a story
is low, doesn’t mean that you (or Bryan’s friend) won’t enjoy it.
“This country and this century are in horrible shape because of the lack of
socialism!”
